11 was always my lucky number
It is 2011 and I'm back in Nebraska and definitely refreshed from the break, ready to start up with classes and practice again. It has been an interesting preparation for track season which officially kicks off this week with the Holiday Inn Invitational this Friday, January 14 - Saturday, January 15. Consisting of mostly smaller colleges, this meet will be a great introduction to getting the feel of a college race on the indoor track. Preparation for this season began with the end of cross country which officially ended November 22 of last year. Since then it has been an interesting journey, from almost being run over on a tempo run by a crazy country man in his old red truck to rolling my ankle in the first track workout indoors and having that set back really challenge me mentally for a few weeks, the road has been long and eventful but the races are just around the corner and I am entering my first collegiate indoor track season. This will also be the first track season I enter with no time goals. Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards and after spending some time at home and realizing the two factors that effect my running most: confidence and the source of my motivation; I am entering this season with no time goals, but instead more personal goals such as staying tough in the race and keeping myself in it mentally. If I can keep these two goals on track the rest will come and I am excited to see how this season will unfold. I will kick off the season with the 5k this weekend indoors, twenty five laps here I come!
